Housekeeping “Opt Out” Being Tested at Pop Century

We’re hearing reports that a “housekeeping opt-out” program is being tested at Pop Century this month. According to several guests at our Facebook page, guests are being asked if they want to opt out of housekeeping during their stay and if they say “yes” they’ll receive a gift card with $15 per night of their stay (excluding check-in and check-out day).

Guests who choose to not have housekeeping (or “Mousekeeping” if you prefer) visit their room during their stay will need to visit housekeeping if they want clean towels. We’re not sure what happens with any trash that is in the room – we’re assuming guests will be responsible for its disposal.

Fans on the Facebook post have also reported that the All-Star Resorts are doing a similar test program but guests who choose to opt out of housekeeping at All-Stars are receiving $20 per night on a gift card. And, we’re also hearing that guests at Port Orleans French Quarter are also able to take advantage of this test program.

So this begs the question – what is the reason Disney is testing this program? Is housekeeping going to become another add-on at the resorts? Or are some resorts just short of housekeeping staff? We shall see!

Would you opt out of housekeeping for the length of your stay? Let us know in the comments!
