Taking the Bus from Pop Century

Pop Century Bus Stop

The hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort all have one thing in common – convenient transportation options to the theme parks, water parks, and Downtown Disney.

Whether you drove to Disney or arrived via plane and Magical Express, you can leave the driving to Disney during your stay.

One of the things we love most about Pop Century is that, unlike some other value resorts (All-Stars), Pop has its own dedicated bus line. (Guests at the All-Star Resorts often find themselves in very long lines to get on the bus and the buses make stops at all three of the All Star resorts, making the trips much longer).

Now this isn’t to say that transportation to and from Pop is perfect. Because it’s not. But then again neither is the transportation from most of the resorts. Convenient yes. Perfect, no.

The bus stop at Pop Century is located outside Classic Hall. It is the only bus stop for the resort, so always factor in the walking time from your room to the bus stop when planning your day.

The Disney transport buses run from one hour prior to park opening until one hour after park opening. So if you want to make it to rope drop at the Magic Kingdom you need to plan accordingly.

Travel Times to Parks are based on their distance away from the Pop Century Resort location:

  • Magic Kingdom -12 to15 minutes
  • Epcot – 8 to10 minutes
  • Animal Kingdom – 9 to 12 minutes
  • Disney Hollywood Studios – 5 to 7 minutes
  • Disney Springs – 10 to 15 minutes

It should be noted that the crowd level at the bus stop will vary depending on the time of year. The summer months will be much more crowded than the “off season.” And while there are a few benches at the bus stop, it’s always a good idea to find a way to amuse the younger kids in your travel group so that the meltdowns don’t happen before you even get to a park. (As parents we’ve all been there).

When leaving the theme parks be sure to look for the queue for Pop Century – you don’t want to take the wrong bus. And also note that it is very likely that the bus will be standing room only during very busy seasons. If you don’t want to stand, you can wait for the next bus – just let the people behind you in line get on before you. And, guests with scooters will be boarded before all other guests. If you have a stroller you must collapse it before boarding the bus (so we suggest small “umbrella” strollers as they make traveling by Disney bus much easier).

Using the Disney bus system is just one perk of staying on property at Walt Disney World. Tell us – do you utilize the buses when you’re a guest at Pop Century?
